European manufacturers trade body, ACEA, has written to the EU Commissioner for the Internal Market asking him to postpone the introduction of the new emission standards for vehicles which come into force next January. ACEA argues the COVID-19 crisis has caused a significant build-up of stocks at carmakers, importers and dealers, not all of which meet the new, stricter standards, and says the Chinese government has postponed the introduction of tougher emission standards for the same reason.
