Fleet Europe Awards winners announced

Over 1,000 international fleet and mobility professionals from across the globe attended the Fleet Europe Awards and Summit last month in Barcelona when they saw Almy Sousa Magalhaes of Philip Morris International win the Global Fleet Manager of the Year Award and Franz Fehlner from Allianz Technology take the runners-up spot and receive his award from Dr Jörg Löffler, CEO, Fleet Logistics (pictured).

Magalhaes, Global Procurement Executive Fleet, E-Commerce and Distribution at Philip Morris International, leads a cost-efficient programme across 82 countries that shows excellent results in terms of driver safety and paves the way for the transformation towards new powertrains and an integrated mobility management, said the Fleet Europe judges.

He manages a car fleet of 22,930 worldwide and received his award from category sponsor, Stefan Herbert, Head of International Corporate Sales at Mercedes-Benz.

There were a number of other awards results announced on the night.

The award for European Fleet Manager of the Year went to Heiko Groesch, Manager Fleet EMEA, at Goodyear Dunlop Tyres, which operates a global fleet of 6,508 vehicles, 2,573 in EMEA.

The runner-up in this category was David Omodei, Senior Procurement Engagement Manager Fleet, at Microsoft.

The International Fleet Mobility Award was presented to Laura Gobbis, Travel and Fleet Procurement Manager at Luxottica, for operating a 2000-strong global fleet in which mobility solutions were increasingly relevant, including a smart car-sharing app and an e-shuttle service in China.

The International Fleet Safety Award went to Ingersoll Rand, represented by Christine Siroux, Travel & Fleet Manager EMEA. Ingersoll Rand introduced a yearly 100 Days of Safety programme that increased driver safety awareness through a safety app for drivers, weekly messages and driver training sessions.

The International Fleet Innovation Award went to IBM, represented by Ferenc Hegedus, Global Category Lead, Car Lease, Rental and Ground Transportation. The jury was impressed by IBM’s innovative approach in fleet management process efficiency and cost monitoring, in particular its Pricing IQ tool. IBM operates a global fleet of 20,275 vehicles.

The International Car Remarketing Award was awarded to BCA for its 1Europe Transport initiative, represented by Bertrand De Techtermann, EU Operations Director, who received his prize from Marcel De Rycker, Managing Director, IWS.

There were three prizes in the International Fleet Industry Award category, which went to Athlon for ChangeMyCar, the “Tinder of car leasing”; LeasePlan with the LeasePlan Electric Programme; and ALD Automotive with ALD Car Sharing.

There were also three awards in the Smart Mobility Start-Up of the Year Award category. Winner was Fixico, followed by AppyParking and Bestmile.

Also at the Awards ceremony, Simon Dransfield, General Manager Fleet & Business Europe, Jaguar Land Rover, was inducted into the International Fleet Hall of Fame for the innovative mobility services he had introduced at JLR with a strong customer focus.

The Awards ceremony was preceded by a Summit and exhibition which attracted suppliers from all facets of European fleet management, including Fleet Logistics.
